When you hear someone use a metaphor what are you thinking? Are you thinking what could this metaphor possible mean? or are you thinking how could this metaphor possibly affect me and others? We use Metaphors all the time and we read about them all the time but we never really quite give any thought about the effects a Metaphor could have on someone. When Khullar talks about the “Beast” experiment and how they used metaphors to split people into certain categories, It shows how a metaphor could affect someone. Khullar goes on to introduce what the researchers have to say about the experiment that they are conducting. “In another study, researchers asked people to help solve a city’s crime problem, which was described either as “virus infecting a city” or a “wild beast preying on a city”(Khullar). He goes on to talk about how someone with the virus is more likely to propose a solution to the issue, rather than someone that has the beast. Khullar also discusses military metaphors and how we should be careful with how we use them. The power of metaphor can affect someone’s mental or physical health in a positive or negative way.
